This week is Consumer Awareness Week, a time to help people understand their consumer rights and make well-informed decisions about money. At Apex Steel, the consumer comes first and their commitment to quality and service has helped the company grow into Kenya’s leading manufacturing firm.
Since 1970, Apex has grown into the region's largest importers of beams, channels, shafts, and seamless pipes, in addition to more than 4,000 general hardware items and wire products.
This product line includes, but is not limited to steel, cement, water treatments, hot rolled products, cold formed sections, structural steel, drinking water, waste and storm water treatments, PVC pipes and much more. Over the last 5 decades, Apex Steel has become the ‘ALL-IN- ONE’ provider of sustainable solutions in construction, fabrication, plumbing, painting, roofing sheets, anti-rust, domestic water purification and sanitary-ware.
Mother Nature Loves Apex Steel
Since 2015, Apex Steel has been at the forefront of the green movement, becoming the first and only steel company in the region to be awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certificate. LEED is a popular green building certification programs used worldwide that includes a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighbourhoods. The aim is to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.
Apex Steel’s manufacturing process and products help create a healthier indoor environment for occupants through better indoor air quality, less harmful products and more natural daylight. They also reduce waste, conserve energy, decrease water consumption, and drive innovation. All of this can positively affect your bottom line and boost productivity.
Leaders in Innovation
Encouraged by the company’s sustained success in producing high quality steel, Apex directors made the decision to acquire Ken Aluminum Products, now known as KAP Plastics, in 2010, effectively becoming a one-stop shop for all construction-related needs in Kenya.
In 2004 KAP Plastics became the first company in Kenya to manufacture Poly Propylene Random (PPR), which were rebranded as “Hydro-flo”, and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, radically changing the plumbing industry from galvanized pipes to plastic, saving plumbers substantial time and money.
Building for the Future
Hydro-flo has been awarded KEBS certification and is the preferred choice for plumbers and contractors looking for quality and durability. It’s manufactured from virgin material with no fillers or additives, ensuring sustainability in quality and performance to last over 50 years. Following KAP Plastics seamless integration into the Apex Steel family, the company has continued to be
at the forefront of plumbing innovations, introducing a series of new plastic and piping solutions to the
Kenyan market including round pipes, wall plugs, toilet seat covers, garden hose pipes, ferules and tubing’s.
